The original garden uses a color play of mainly annuals, including sunflowers and salvia, along the street-side fence post rails. As you look past that border, there is Swamp Milkweed, Penstemon, Stiff and Showy Goldenrods, Agastache and more. On the other side of the weeding path stones, the interior has Bluestem bordered with goldenrod, Clethra, Chokeberry, Winterberry, Hibiscus, Coneflower and Asters.

Prime Time 2023

The Summer of 2023 did not disappoint. Thanks to copious amounts of rainfall, the original garden was in great shape. We barely watered at all. What a show. Even so, this was a summer where Monarchs were hard to find-except for a late season rush of chrysalis and caterpillars.

Fall in Love with Autumn Gardening

When planning the garden, we wanted to make sure there was plenty for late season pollinators. So we made sure to include several varieties of goldenrod, blue woodland asters, etc. We also kept an eye to a visually pleasing palette for the end of season. It's ever changing, dramatic and very much the WOW! factor each year.

Community Outreach

Cheshire Pollinator Pathway members get their hands dirty, but our mission extends to educating the public. We share information on native plants, planting for pollinators and the planet.

Leave the Leaves

There are important lessons to be learned even as the garden begins to get ready to be tucked in for the winter. Leave the leaves so butterflies, native bees, fireflies and others can get tucked in for winter. Don't clean up the garden, and leave the leaves!

Mona! Here Comes the Scarecrows

Creating Mona for the town's Scarecrow event was a blast. It was a also a great teambuilding exercise and a great way to promote the mission of planting for pollinators!

This was how the area at 487 North Brooksvale Rd. looked when we first stumbled on it. This actually looks like we cleaned it up a bit first.
